Small but Mighty
Mooseburger Clown Arts Camp (aka Moose Camp) is the premier place for clown training in the United States, and the longest continuously running camp dedicated to teaching every level and type of clowning.
We keep camp to 90 campers or fewer so every person gets real, personal attention in a fun, supportive, non-competitive environment.
At Moose Camp we teach by doing. You take classes, get cast and coached in routines, watch staff perform all week, and finish with the world’s largest annual clown show!

Personal Education Plan
A one on one, 30 minute call with founder Tricia Manuel before camp. You leave with a plan for your course and workshops.
Courses and Workshops
Mornings are a focused course with the same small group all week. Afternoons are hour long workshops you pick on the fly.
E-Workbook
Articles and worksheets collected over 25+ years of camp. Start learning before you arrive.
Prop Shop
Build a kazoo horn for the clown band, a prop for your gag, or a walk around prop to take home.
All Star Clown Show
Camp ends with a free public show starring YOU. Backdrops, props, costumes, and coaching provided.
Cabins by the lake
Air conditioned, fully accessible cabins on one level. Watch for bald eagles soaring by and sharks in the lake!
How the Week Works
For over 25 years Mooseburger Clown Arts Camp has worked to define and refine what clown education can be. We have laid a solid foundation that we build on each year, keeping a core of classes and events while constantly changing and rotating new things through our program. From our yearly Featured Guest to our regular full Staff and returning Campers, you’ll find friendly guidance that has a goal of laughter and learning that keeps you improving your clowning abilities.
Morning Courses
Pick one course and stay with the same instructor and small group of Campers every morning. Each intensive course is about 9 hours of focused learning you build on each day. In your PEP Talk before Camp, we will help you select the best course for you that keeps you moving forward on your individual clown journey.
Afternoon Workshops
Over 30 hour long workshops on all kinds of clown arts topics to choose from. Mix and match to fill out your week and enhance your clowning goals! You can choose ahead of time, but feel free to switch it up on a daily basis if something calls to you the week of Camp.
Labs, Jams, Events, and Fun Stuff
While the cornerstone of Moose Camp is education and training, we strongly believe that it needs to be mixed with fun and examples of clowning in action. Each day is filled with extras like labs, jams, shows and presentations by our staff, and lots of fun stuff. (Did someone say PIE???) We don't have competitions, ribbons, or medals so we can focus on helping you become the best clown YOU can be.
The All Star Clown Show
Moose Camp builds to a mighty conclusion with the All Star Clown Show, a free, public show starring you! Whether a beginner or a seasoned pro, you will be cast in a small group routine then, throughout the week, you will rehearse under the direction of our performance experienced staff. On Saturday night you will shine, performing with about 100 other clowns, in a full stage show complete with a backdrop, costumes, props, and live sound effects.
Courses and workshops are subject to change. If a special guest joins us or life changes a staff member’s plans, we may shuffle a few things, but there will always be more education than you can throw a pie at.
