When and Where?

July 21 – 26, 2020 in Buffalo, MN

Moose Camp takes place in beautiful lakeside Buffalo, Minnesota!

Christ the King Retreat Center
621 First Ave. South
Buffalo MN 55313

King’s House usually hosts quiet religious retreats the rest of the year..but when we approached them, we found them excited at the thought of more than a hundred clowns in the house for a week. And we couldn’t have found more gracious hosts or a better spot for Moose Camp!

The sleeping rooms remind us of rooms in a new Motel 8, but nicer and cleaner. Remember to bring your hair dryer and clothing iron, if you need ’em. You will not find much in the way of televisions, though. We can honestly say we have never heard a single complaint about the lack of TV — this says a lot about our program!

What We Do Have:

  • Air Conditioning and Private Bath in each room
  • Luggage Trolleys
  • Handicapped Accessible
  • 2 Dining Rooms
  • Kitchenette for campers’ use
  • Dealers’ Room
  • Walking Trails along Buffalo Lake

What We Don’t Have:

  • Televisions, Computers, or Wi-Fi
  • Hair Dryers/Hair Curlers
  • Toiletries (bring your own shampoo!)
  • Clothing Irons/Ironing Board
  • Laundry Facility

..remember, you are here to learn – you’ll be having so much fun clowning around that you won’t even miss your technological gadgets!

Moose Camp takes place at Christ the King Retreat Center in Buffalo, MN: www.kingshouse.com.

Each room is air-conditioned, has two double beds, one private bathroom, and comes with basic hotel-style bedding/linens/pillows/towels. While the grounds are magnificent, the rooms are a little austere and don’t have all the luxurious amenities of a hotel room. In particular, the rooms do NOT come with shampoo/conditioner or shower soap, no hair dyer, nor a clothing iron. There are no laundry facilities on site, so plan your luggage for a week and pack accordingly.

(HINT: The facility staff asks that you bring your own wash-cloths/hand-towels for cleaning off your clown greasepaint makeup – there will be fees charged to rooms which leave greasepaint on the towels!)

Rooms do NOT come with radio, alarm clock, internet hook-up, or TV — but you’re usually too busy having fun to watch TV anyways! There is no cable/internet hook-up anywhere in the building, but there is wi-fi in the lobby area. There is one phone for public use on the main floor (we recommend bringing a pre-paid phone card). Most cell phone carriers have excellent reception while on the grounds; inside the buildings reception may not be so good.

We also want you to know that the room doors do not lock – since the Christ the King facility is accustomed to hosting religious retreats, they see no need to install locks on the doors. We have never had any reports of anything stolen, and we have every confidence that the absence of locks will not be a problem to Moose Campers.

The buildings are smoke-free. You are allowed to smoke on the grounds, but please be considerate of others around you and maintain a minimum of 20 feet from the doors and windows when you smoke.

Animals are not allowed inside the facility, nor on the grounds of King’ House Retreat Center.
