Make It Your Own

I hope you enjoy the pictures from our clown meeting, The Clown Arounds. Sweet Connie from the BrickTown Clowns in Oklahoma shared the fresh picked noses idea (top photos). We took it and made it our own (bottom photos). See the two different variations? Yup, in clowning as in most things, there is more than one way to do things. This makes for a great parade prop or walk around prop. Just have fun with it.

We got our noses from Twin Cities Magic and Costume in St. Paul. I like having different sizes. You can also spray paint ping pong balls. The egg carton is easy to carry. We used paper clips to attach the sign to the carton, and then glued the noses in the carton with fabric glue. I like laminating signs or putting them in clear plastic page covers.

This idea got us all thinking of crazy plays on words. I had remembered someone with the “Hare Dryer”. I had some extra stuffed bunnies from another hair brained scheme in my life and we put them to good use.  You can put your sign on a stick or attach it to the hanger like we did. This bit is so simple. “Hey do you want to see my new hair dryer??? Show the rabbit on the hanger then turn it around to show the sign. “Get it??? Hare Dryer????? He’s just about done! He hates it when I fluff his tail!!!!” Good old fashioned silly fun!

One of the guys in our group didn’t get it. We had a good laugh over that. Another guy came up with all kinds of funny play on words with the help of the group! Lyme disease: Cut some plastic limes in half, attaché them to a sleeve and put it on your arm under a jacket or loose blouse. Swine flu: a pig with a propeller on it! Get a group of clowns together and who knows what kind of crazy stuff you will come up with.

Speaking of getting clowns together…Moose Camp is right around the corner. Clowns will be coming from all over the world! It may be too late for you to join us this year, but it’s never to early to think about next year! We have a great payment plan. Put $200.00 down in Sept. and then monthly payments of $62.50 will be deducted from you credit or debit card on the 15th of the month. How easy is that?? We have Refund Insurance, too, so if you do have to cancel you get all your money back except the $25.00 insurance fee.

If you want your clown meetings to be a success I suggest two things: education and food! Have a brief business meeting to let everyone know what events are going on. Decide who will be in charge of the next meetings activity and who will be in charge of bringing the snack. Then move on to the fun. Finish with snacks. It kind of reminds me of a scout meeting! But there is a reason it works.

Send me pictures of YOUR club’s fun ideas! Email them to Pricilla@mooseburger.com and tell me a little bit about your props or meeting ideas. I would love to share them with the rest of you like I do the Brick Town Clown Club and The Clown Arounds!

In love and Laughter!
Pricilla

P.S. If you are in the area of Buffalo, MN be sure to bring your friends and family to the free All Star Clown Show on August 1st in Sturges Park! See 100 clowns perform all kinds of routines. Come early for free face painting, bubble blowing, and kids activities. It is a great way to support clowns from all over the world!  Bring a lawn chair or blanket – seating is on the grass.  Yummy concessions and fun souvenirs will be available for purchase. Click on this link for a map: http://www.mooseburger.com/camp/clownshow.html

See you there!

Tip of the Month

It’s summer!  That means perspiration, perspiration, perspiration!  To prevent sweat from ruining your makeup, you can use No Sweat and Barrier Spray.  These two Mehron products help you keep your cool.

No Sweat is a liquid antiperspirant formula for use underneath your grease-based make-up. It retards perspiration, enabling you to get professional results with your make-up application and performance. This clear liquid applies easily with a sponge or cotton ball.

Apply your makeup like usual, powder, and then finish with the Barrier Spray. Just mist it lightly over your powdered face. It replaces splashing water on your face or pressing a wet wash cloth to your face to remove excess powder without touching your face. This reduces the risk of smudging your make-up and makes it rub off less on clothing and wigs.

What the heck -- let's have a special on this stuff!

No Sweat 4 oz. bottle = $6.00 (save $2.00!)

Barrier Spray 2 oz. pump bottle = $6.50 (save $1.00!)

Barrier Spray Refill 9 oz. bottle = $14.00 (save $2.00!)

Out with the Old…In with the New?

We have an exciting change for the All Star Clown Show!  As many of you know, we have had the old station wagon, better known as the “Mooseburger Camp Taxi,” always pull up at the end of the show and gaggles of clowns pile out of it to rapturous applause.

Well, the time has come to say farewell to our friend.  Oh it still runs and looks great, but when I saw this NEW car for sale, I figured that it’s time for a change!

Don't worry we do have the front panels missing in this picture.  An interesting factoid is this car was once owned by Ringling Clowns Chris and Gina Allison. You may have seen Chris recently on America's Got Talent. He did the geek act of eating a light bulb as “Coney Island Chris.” He did get voted on to Vegas so you will see more of him.

Last year at the Ringling Clown Reunion Chris put his Clown Car on the silent auction. I bought it and got it shipped back to Minnesota for us! It had all the fluids taken out of it as it was used for a spot on the Rosie O'Donnell show. Luckily my brother-in-law is a great mechanic and we already have it running!  It will be jazzing it up with polka dots and turning it into a clown car.

The old clown car will be looking for a new home!  If you are seriously interested, contact us with your best offer.  Call me at 320-963-6277.

Another Happy Customer!

~  Testimonials from satisfied clowns  ~

I had ordered a Mooseburger wig and a skull cap that I didn't like and didn't fit. I called and you helped me with ordering a skull cap in a smaller size and in a "sun-tan" color that you said had sat in the dye a bit too long. It is just perfect.

You also advised me about the wigs and I ordered a longer curly green wig. I LOVE IT.

You were so patient with me! I do appreciate your "people skills".

Thanks for your good advice/help!

~ Gail Darner from Naples, FL

I want to thank you for the costume. It was way better than I could imagine and it fits very well. I will be back soon for new pair of pants. Thanks for everything!

~ Mike “Chappy” Reading from Massachusetts
